About

Arkansas Children’s Hospital is a nonprofit pediatric tertiary care facility, meaning its departments are mainly specialized care and patients come primarily from referrals from primary care physicians or other hospitals. As the only pediatric care facility in Arkansas, it is able to assist patients and their families from all counties throughout Arkansas and the surrounding states. From newborns to young adults, the hospital is committed to providing care management and cures for diseases and conditions of all types.

It is a nationally-recognized medical care center that has been distinguished by Fortune Magazine as one of the 100 best companies to work for. Of the approximately 500 physicians on staff, 124 were honored by being named the Best Doctors in America for 2009-2010.

Part of the hospital’s state-of-the-art technology involves the communication and interaction with parents and families. With a strong, caring and supportive staff as well as a well-designed website, parents and families have easier access to health information, appointments, bills and other needs relating to their child’s care. Children, for their part, may log into the “CareHub” on the website and receive messages and pictures from friends, watch in-demand movies, play X-Box 360 games and play educational videos as well. For those who cannot visit the hospital directly, the site allows them to order gifts from the gift shop and have them delivered at any time during the day. The website also serves as an informational source for parents with sick children; with a symptom checker designed specifically for children, parents will have a less stressful way to determine whether their child needs immediate medical attention or not.

As the pediatric teaching affiliate of University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, its mission to better the lives and health of children is strengthened and broadened. In return for the learning opportunity, UAMS allows ACH access to its medical innovations and new technologies.
