About

Play-Place for Autistic Children (PAC) is a 501(c)3 foundation and our goal is to combine recreation and education with a variety of social, occupational and physical overtones to promote reciprocal & imaginative growth and development. Our objective is to alleviate costs, optimize alliances and piece together the puzzles of autism and other special needs challenges via BIG smiles and breakthrough moments. Moreover, we will serve as a source of respite relief for parents, resource management and direction. With a reported 7,259 cases of autism in Michigan, we rank as the 4th most affected state in the country. Therefore, our mission is critical and cries out for immediate support.

As a mother of an eight year old son affected by autism, Founder Shell Jones is driven by the premise that children with autism are simply “differently abled.” Her goal is to provide hope, empowerment, understanding and inclusion, with the ultimate ambition of making a difference. As a parent and education enthusiast, her efforts are focused on effective treatment and education in addition to increased awareness of resources and direction.

PAC’s one-of-a-kind facility will feature a host of fun-themed, therapeutic activity rooms designed to promote endless hours of excitement, cognitive & social development, sensory integration, balance & coordination, depth perception enhancement and encourage exploration. The center will boast a Cosmic Laser Light Chalkroom (writing skills, artistic talents, imagination), PAC Playscape (sensory-integration, coordination & motor planning), giant Bouncers (sensory-integration, balance, depth perception), 4D Movie Theatre (behavioral & focus), a Computer Café, Haircut Hut and MORE.

With your alliance and support, PAC will be a community that is joyously inviting, socially engaging, environmentally safe, therapeutic, educational, special needs sensitive and care-giver supportive.
