About

Cindrsoft's developing wireless trading card operated (TCO) video games where players use a deck of electronically enhanced wireless collectible trading cards to control their avatars in a 3D video game environment.

Relica is the first game to use this technology, an arena shooter video game.  Players use their wireless cards to control their animated on-screen avatar during combat. Players physically move cards into and out of play with the results immediately reflected in the on-screen game. Controls include a wide range of operations, including attacks, defenses, movement, and management of health and energy resources.

The game setting for combat is gothic horror, and draws upon ancient Egyptian mythology, aliens, and cosmology. Game cards represent alien relics that control and power your in-game avatar. Your avatar is a manifestation of the "maker" of the game cards being played (see below The Relica Back Story for more on makers and relics). Use of cards from different makers is strictly prohibited.

Game cards are smaller than conventional trading cards for portability, the size of business cards so they can be tucked into the palm of the hand for convenience and secrecy from prying eyes during gaming.  Game cards communicate over wireless connections with the video game through a game device called the CindrBox (ok it's actually a battery powered device that contains a very thin lithium polymer battery and coded electronics). When the player moves a card within range, the CindrBox scans the card and puts it in play. To take a card out of play, the player simply moves it out of range of the relay.

Game play is controlled according to the engagement instructions stored on the cards in play. Each game card has its own encoded data and operating instructions that define what it can do, to what extent, and how it operates within the gaming framework. Game cards are updated by the video game during play, mana (energy) is deducted when you activate, or added when you steal it from your opponent, and experience points are tracked and updated for each card in play. Yes card mana and experience are increased as the card is used!  Rather than the avatar leveling up, the game cards level up in Relica and become ever more powerful and valuable over time, unlocking enhanced features.
