About

Back in the 1960s, David Halperin was a teenage UFO investigator.  Later he became a professor of religious studies — his specialty, religious traditions of heavenly ascent.  From 1976 through 2000, David taught Jewish history in the Religious Studies Department at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.  He's the author of five books on Jewish mysticism and messianism and a novel, "Journal of a UFO Investigator," published in 2011 by Viking Press.  His non-fiction book "Intimate Alien: The Hidden Story of the UFO" was published in 2020 by Stanford University Press, and was hailed by Religion News Service as one of "the most intriguing books on religion we read this year."  He blogs at www.davidhalperin.net.
