Deaf Action is a deaf-led registered charity (SCO 09898) established in 1835 and managed by an elected Executive Council of which at least 51% of it members must themselves be deaf. We provide a range of services to deaf people and to those who work with them. We work with Deaf British Sign Language users, as well as those who are deafened, deafblind and hard of hearing.

Whilst we provide some of our services across Scotland and internationally, we have a strong focus in Edinburgh and, along with our Deaf Club on Albany Street, have been a focal point for the Deaf Community in the city for many, many years.

Deaf Action works with those that are Deaf British Sign Language users, as well as those that are deafened, deafblind and hard of hearing.  We provide a range of services to deaf people and to those who work with them, including:
•     Information, Advice & Guidance
•     Communication Support (British Sign Language / English Interpreters, Deafblind Communicators, Lipspeakers and Notetakers)
•     Specialist Equipment
•     Social Work
•     Health Information
•     Adult learning for British Sign Language users and hard of hearing learners
•     Multimedia Translation of information and websites to make them more accessible to British Sign Language Users
•     Training

With 70 staff based in Edinburgh, Deaf Action is the main local supplier of services to deaf people in the city.
