About

Engelheim (Angel Home, in German)  Vineyards is located near Ellijay, Georgia in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Our focus is on growing outstanding grapes to produce the highest quality 100% estate grown wines.

Engelheim currently has nine grape varietals within their 62 acre estate.  Their award winning wines include a popular bordeaux blend, "Trilogy," a Merlot, and two Traminette wines, with Sweet Molly being the slightly sweeter Traminette.  Engelheim recently began producing a dry Riesling with grapes from Washington State.

The owners, Gary and Jan Engel, decided to purchase the land that is now known as Engelheim (“Angel Home” in German) in 2007.  After Colonel Engel retired from the Army in 2004, upon return from Kuwait and Iraq, they decided to live their dream of living in the North Georgia Mountains and to grow the finest quality grapes.  They planted the first vines in 2009 and took the first limited harvest in 2011.  It is about the quality of life and touching other lives that have driven them to establish the vineyards, tasting lodge, and winery.
