Sometimes my Brush has Bristles ... Sometimes it has Layers!

Laurel D. Rund, a local Bradenton artist and published author of Emerging Voices, creates unique and inspirational art work by fusing elements from her original pastels, photographs, touch drawings and mixed media collages.

"My work is called Art from the Heart which is a poem from my soul,” states Laurel.  “In 2009, a life-changing event transformed me into the woman I am today. Never could I have imagined that the death of my husband of 42 years would take me on a journey through loss and grief to a redefined sense of self.  Death, an unexpected teacher, was the catalyst of my metamorphosis. The slow and painful healing process unfolded my creativity, and the Essence of Laurel was born.

At times I mix paint in a cup or pick up a piece of chalk and apply it to canvas or paper; at other times I use color from a digital web palette.  I then morph and blend the images and, after this time of chrysalis, my Art from the Heart emerges.”
