KSA Silmakeskus – who we are?
KSA Silmakeskus is a small and cosy eye clinic, situated in Kadriorg, which is specialized in eye operations correcting vision defects. We started as KSA in 2004. There are 14 employees in our eye clinic – eye surgeon Dr. Ants Haavel, four optometrists and administrative personnel. Most of the medical personnel has worked in KSA since its establishment. Together we make up a warm and friendly family, who strives together to guarantee the best vision quality for our customers!
What do we do?
The specialty of KSA are laser procedures correcting myopia. We carry out three types of eye surgery – Standard LASIK, Matrix LASIK and Epi-K.
The first two are LASIK-type eye operations. The principle of LASIK procedure is that a thin flap is cut off from the cornea and the shape of cornea below the flap is processed with laser. In this way as if an additional lens is formed in the cornea which helps the light beams entering the eye to refract under the correct angle, so that the light beams are focused in the right place on the fundus of the eye and vision is maximally sharp and clear.
The difference between Standard LASIK and Matrix LASIK lies in technique – during Matrix surgery we use a special Zeiss refractive surgery platform. This gives us the possibility to create a unique laser treatment program for every eye. With its help the surgeon can carry out the procedure virtually in the computer to guarantee the best possible result. Matrix procedure is somewhat more expensive than standard LASIK surgery, as it is the master class of eye surgery. Nonetheless you should not be afraid of standard procedure – the results are also very good.
During Epi-K the corneal flap is not cut and the whole procedure takes place on the surface of the cornea. Therefore severe myopia can’t be corrected with Epi-K. As epithelium is removed from the corneal surface during the procedure, recovery is longer than with LASIK surgery. As no cut is made into the cornea, the procedure’s benefit is higher safety.
The mission of KSA
The mission of KSA Silmakeskus is to join the high-level technology and the newest knowledge in the name of our customers’ best vision quality. Ophthalmology, optometry and optics have developed tumultuously during the last decades. What a couple of years ago seemed impossible, is today possible and natural. Thousands of specialists have spent a lot of time and energy to develop the technology and knowledge. The clinic's doctors and optometrists visit the most known European clinics, manufacturers and well-known doctors regularly, test their technology and analyze the treatment results. The aim of KSA is to make the newest technical solutions and methodologies available for Estonian customers as well.
Our priorities
KSA Silmakeskus is the biggest performer of excimer laser procedures on myopic eyes. Our priorities are safety, quality and perfect customer service.
The customers of KSA are people with active and positive attitude, who wish to acquire the best possible vision with the help of laser procedures and to get rid of glasses or contact lenses. We choose our patients vary carefully to fill this wish as safely as possible. Everyone who wishes to have laser eye surgery in our clinic, must first undergo specific eye investigations. The patient selection criteria are so high, that only one in every four potential patients makes it to the procedure. Only after the analysis of investigation results it is possible to say if the person is eligible for laser procedure or not.
The whole KSA Silmakeskus personnel has aimed to be among the five best European excimer laser centers – by treatment quality as well as customer service. Striving in the name of joint aims as a joint team we are sure that we are able to offer high-quality services as well as treatment quality.
