About

Social Media allows a quick, diverse discussion of the power dynamics of current events and recent news stories. But the open and often disorganized nature of social media often results in superficial conversations that don't clearly describe the assumptions related to a commentator's perspective.

The Faces of Power app is a tool for users to independently apply:

• Very brief, simplified descriptions of power,
• A DoD systems engineering analysis tool, and
• A short checklist for controlling momentum in competitive situations,

to assess the power relationships that are fundamental in different topics of interest (including current events and recent news stories) and their corresponding entities.

The goal is also to encourage more comprehensive analyses and discussions (private and on social media) of the power systems associated with these topics of interest and their corresponding entities, within a common frame of reference. Users are provided brief questions to aid in their analysis, and are encouraged to develop new power paradigms.

Advantages:

• Real-world, battle-tested tools for analyzing power dynamics,
• Common frame of reference (including a unique hashtag format) for social media discussions,
• Ecosystem that supports the up-to-date exchange of user submitted reference documents, and
• Quick reference, that's easier to navigate than textbooks and articles.
