The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) is the governing body of the sport with a membership of 210 national associations in all continents. The ITTF was founded in 1926 and the first international tournament was held in January 1926 in Berlin while the first World Table Tennis Championships were held in December 1926 in London. The ITTF has an extensive competition programme and one of the most progressive international federations in terms of sport development, with special development programmes all over the world. The ITTF joined the Olympic Family in 1988 when table tennis made its debut in the Seoul Olympic Games.
