About

Illahee Elementary School, a top-rated K-5th grade public school in the Evergreen School District in Camas, Washington received alarming test results when only 27% of their Fifth Graders met the “Health Fitness Zone” Standard in all four fitness test areas and only 77% met the standard for the PACER, an important cardiorespiratory endurance test. The school is taking action in many areas and has formed a parent group to pull the community, district, school staff and PTA together to focus on long-term programs to improve test results for their students.

Action taken by the school has been to raise funds for a fitness path, overhaul their garden and pull in sponsors such as Home Depot, Nautilus, Inc., PeaceHealth, Dutch Brothers, Clark County Master Gardeners and Worx Engineering to support giving students the education and resources to take action and be accountable to their own health.
