About

"Jazz 4 Nothin'" was founded in the winter of 2010 by two of its members, Alison Graham and Jonathon Tangye. Concerned about the lack of community jazz bands tackling difficult charts, the abilities of superior players no longer being challenged musically and the seeming decline of jazz music in the area, the pair ordered charts out of pocket and mustered together the group.

The players who attend practices do so at the sacrifice of their own time and expenses. Members of the band driving to practice in Doylestown on a regular basis are from all over Southeastern Pennsylvania including Coatesville, Conshohocken, Levittown, Newtown, Doylestown, Quakertown, Nazareth and Allentown, not to mention the student members from Delaware Valley College.

The mission statement of the group is to musically challenge its members and to raise the bar of community jazz band performances in the area, if not to bring jazz music to the community on a more regular basis. Hailed historically as one of the most important cultural achievements of the American people alongside the United States Consitution, the progress of jazz studies and appreciation in the community is the mutual concern of Jazz 4 Nothin's band members, fans and supporters.
