In his role as President of Laurex Realty Advisors, Alex Johnson oversees the operation of the various divisions related to real estate development, real estate consulting, real estate brokerage, and mortgage brokerage. Alex brings a family legacy of more than 30 years in real estate investing. He is experienced in the areas of multi-family, retail and development. Alex is a licensed Texas real estate and mortgage broker.

Alex was one of 12 employees worldwide to be awarded the prestigious Leader’s Council award at Lucent Technologies as a result of his success as a Director of Sales. After more than 14 years in management and sales for PepsiCo, Nortel Networks and Lucent Technologies, Alex founded Laurex in an effort to reduce his time on the road and help others invest in real estate. Alex holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.

As a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Alex is a recognized expert in the disciplines of commercial and investment real estate. As a CCIM, Alex is an invaluable resource to the commercial real estate owner, investor, and user, and is among an elite corps of 9,500 professionals across North America who earned the CCIM designation.  Alex is also a certified CCIM Instructor.

Alex’s real estate involvement includes membership with the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), National Association of Realtors, Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) Institute, Texas Association of Realtors (TAR) and North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors. Alex serves as a CCIM Institute Board Member, Vice Chairman for the CCIM Institute Cultural Diversity National
Advisory Board, Treasurer of the North Texas CCIM Chapter, TAR Governing Council for the Realtors Commercial Alliance and former member of the TAR State Housing Taskforce and Land Use & Development  Task Force. Alex is also a graduate of the CCIM Institute Jay W. Levine Leadership Development Academy and the MetroTex Association of Realtors Leadership Program.

An active member of the community, Alex currently serves as a board member for the Southern Dallas Development Corporation (SDDC). Alex also supports the Plano ISD as a member of the Jasper High School SBIC Advisory Committee. He previously has held board positions with Plano Rotary, CITY House Youth Shelter, Boys & Girls Club of Collin County, Plano Community Forum, Leadership Plano as well as a member of the City of Plano’s Cultural Affairs Commission & Public Art Committee. He has also participated in Plano ISD’s Educator Internship program and is a Leadership Plano graduate of class 21.

In 2008, Alex was honored by the CCIM Institute as a CCIM Rising Star and by the Dallas Business Journal as a Top Minority Business Owner. In 2007, Alex was honored with the CCIM Institute Jay W. Levine Leadership Development Academy’s Susan J. Groeneveld Award of Excellence. In 2005, he was awarded his CCIM designation by the CCIM Institute. In 2004, he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow
for Rotary International. In 2003, he was honored by the Plano Chamber of Commerce as Ambassador of the Year and Eagle Award Winner. In 2002, he was honored as a Certified Toast Master (CTM) by Toastmasters International. In 1998, Alex was awarded a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do Martial Arts. Alex also actively supports the Plano & Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerces.

Alex has also served his church, Grace Outreach Center, as a leader in the Newly Married Couples Group and Men’s Group. He has also been a part of the ministries for the Nursery, Children’s Church, and Greeter Team. Alex is also a graduate of the Grace School of Ministry Bible School. He is blessed with his wife and two daughters.
