About

Learning for a Cause is a non-profit educational organization founded in 2004 by noted Canadian educator Michael Ernest Sweet. The organizations mission is to foster high school students in engaging as critical citizens through the act of creative writing. By publishing and promoting their work, Learning for a Cause grants students a genuine civic voice whereby they can inspire positive change in their world. Borrowing the quote from Shakespeare, "The quill is mightier than the sword", students in the project write collective anthologies on a variety of topics of social concern from environment to social justice.

The organization has won numerous awards and is regularly featured on television, radio and in print media. Michael Sweet, the founder, is a National Teachers Hall of Fame - Wall of Fame - inductee in the United States and a member of Canada's Commission to UNESCO.
