In the Community

Linking Michiana and Michigan WORKS! of Kalamazoo & St. Joseph CountiesLinking Michiana reaches out to the community helping  job seekers one-on-one; listening to their concerns, answering questions, assisting with resumes and sharing job leads.

Most Wednesdays, Linking Michiana is at Trio’s Deli, in Sturgis, Michigan from 11:00 am to 2 pm with Aaron Leson, a representative from Michigan WORKS! of Kalamazoo and St. Joseph Counties. Together, they are prepared to provide assistance to job seekers. The community can look forward to them teaming up again to do more workshops at the Sturgis District Library.

Staffing Specialist and Employers at the Hope CaféOn Thursdays, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm Linking Michiana is available to offer support and guidance to job seekers that visit the Hope Café, inside the Christian Fellowship Church, in downtown Lagrange, Indiana.

Linking Michiana’s goal is Linking job seekers to opportunities in Michiana; they strive to bring employers and job seekers together. In October 2013, they held a mini job fair at the Hope Café - staffing specialists  from three staffing agencies came to meet with prospective applicants.

If your company is hiring and would like to have a representative accompany Linking Michiana at either location, email Maria Miller at: LinkingMichiana@gmail.com.

At the two locations Linking Michiana visits, free wi-fi  is available. It is encouraged for job seekers to bring a laptop or portable device for completing online applications and resume assistance. If you don’t have one, Linking Michiana will share theirs!

The biggest public event Linking Michiana organizes and hosts is an annual job fair at The Howe Military Academy, in Howe, Indiana, the last week in March. Their annual job fair benefits the community by raising money for The Howe School scholarship fund and has employment opportunities for teens, veterans, and the general public. Their 2013 job fair offered over 1,000 jobs, raised $1,000 and attracted over 300 job seekers!
