About

Mira Mesa High School (MMHS) is a comprehensive, neighborhood school drawing students from the diverse and integrated Mira Mesa neighborhood. The few remaining spaces quickly fill with students who choose to attend. We consider the student body our best asset.

To prepare our students for post-secondary education, for work, and for service to community, we offer an assessment-driven, standards-based instructional program with high academic rigor. We endeavor to assist students to meet our high expectations. Most courses in core and elective subjects meet a-g requirements for UC admission. Over 20 AP and college classes are offered on campus. Numerous career prep electives and ROP courses allow students to choose from 10 career pathways.

Students enjoy a wide variety of Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) classes and a full complement of competitive athletic teams. Students compete locally and at state and national levels in JROTC, band, dance and cheer. Extracurricular opportunities encourage exploration of personal interests and practice of leadership skills.

Our 98 percent graduation rate is achieved by emphasizing student-centered instruction, promoting responsibility, and providing intervention programs. Course offerings reflect a strong commitment to prepare students for college. 89 percent of seniors go on to colleges and universities. As a result of our many outstanding programs, high test scores, and superb staff, we are fully accredited by WASC and have received many awards.
