The Montgomery County Food Bank was created in 1985 by a concerned group of people who volunteered at the local Crisis Action Hot Line and recognized the need for a formal organization to distribute food to disadvantaged families and those in crisis in Montgomery County, Texas. Last year, nearly 6 million pounds of nutritional food was distributed to those in need or that were experiencing a crisis.
The Montgomery County Food Bank warehouses and distributes food to 47 member agencies throughout Montgomery County. The agencies are accountable for food received and distributed and they must qualify as a charitable institution in accordance with Texas laws. The Food Bank has a volunteer Board of Directors - one of which is a founding board member. Chartered by the State of Texas, the Food Bank is a charitable non-profit organization and granted tax-exempt status.
The Montgomery County Food Bank is a 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit Organization, a partner with the Houston Food Bank and a member of Texas Food Bank Network.
