About

The NJ orthopedic doctors at the KAYAL ORTHOPAEDIC CENTER, PC pride themselves in administering outstanding and innovative orthopaedic care. This is a practice that has built its stellar reputation as a result of patient referrals and "word of mouth" patient recommendations.

In addition to general orthopaedics, Robert A. Kayal, MD has an expertise in the following areas: minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery, computer-assisted navigation technology for joint replacement surgery, gender-specific knee replacement implants designed specifically for men and women, hi-flexion knee replacement implants designed to bend 155 degrees, partial (unicompartmental) knee replacements, cartilage transplantation, bone density testing, and the treatment of osteoporosis and osteopenia.

NJ orthopedic surgeon Robert A. Kayal, MD is the regional pioneer of the partial knee and the patellofemoral knee replacement technology and has been performing these procedures for years.  In fact, Kayal has performed more of these surgeries than any other Orthopaedic Surgeon in the region.  In addition to introducing this technology to the medical community years ago, he also introduced the concept of "outpatient joint replacement surgery" to the local community and continues to perform outpatient unicompartmental and patellofemoral knee replacements on a routine basis.  Dr. Kayal possesses the distinction of performing the first ever minimally invasive partial knee replacement and patellofemoral knee joint replacement at the Valley Hospital and at Patient Care Associates, LLC and performs this procedure at the Hackensack University Medical Center as well. These surgical procedures incorporate only a 3 to 4-inch incision as opposed to the typical 8 to 12-inch incision often required for total knee replacement surgery.  As a result, these patients are discharged home the same day of surgery, endure no cutting of tendons or muscle, recuperate much faster and experience much less pain than those undergoing total knee replacement surgery.  Furthermore, Dr. Kayal has helped pioneer cartilage transplantation in the region, performing operations that delay or even preclude the need for joint replacement surgery.

Robert A. Kayal, MD was trained in the NY-Metropolitan area and has received AOA Honors.  He is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, New Jersey Orthopaedic Society, Orthopaedic Surgeons of New Jersey, Bergen County Medical Society and the American Medical Association.  Dr. Kayal enjoys privileges at renowned hospitals in Bergen County and serves on the Medical Staff at both the Valley Hospital and the Hackensack University Medical Center.  Moreover, Dr. Kayal serves as the Director of Orthopaedic Surgery at Patient Care Associates, LLC, a state-of-the-art outpatient surgical center, in Englewood, NJ.
