About

Reading Bonanza in the Park is a free fun family literacy expo held at a park and open to the public. The purpose of the event is to showcase the diversity of books and reading activities to promote a joy of reading in low income neighborhoods. The event consists of reading activities, games and entertainment hosted by 100+ volunteers and dozens of community organizations. Thousands of FREE books are given to all youth in attendance. Tables and booths hosting reading activities are on-going throughout the day where youth earn raffle tickets just by participating. Dozens of FREE raffle prizes are given out at each event.  There are also scheduled activities such as poetry workshops, on-stage entertainment and a Spelling Bee where contestants compete for a laptop computer.
