About

Rebel e Publishers is an independent publishing company that was incorporated in South Africa on the fourth of July 2008.
The founding members, Caroline Addenbrooke and Joan De La Haye, both writers in their own right, identified an opportunity to develop a publishing house that would combine a quality product with an international sales and distribution network while at the same time replacing a traditional brick and mortar business with a virtual shop front.
Our initial focus, with the aid of our editorial director Jayne Southern, was on the development of electronic format books, as we believed these formats were becoming popular through the accessibility of the world wide web, and with current environmental pressures, we felt this was a responsible option. This year, however, has seen us developing a Print on Demand option primarily due to reader / author interest. We feel that printing on demand is still a reasonable environmental compromise until such time that the reading public convert to electronic book stores and e readers.
At heart we are a Writers Publisher for Writers. We are committed to providing a space where Authors can market their work to the world at large with fair returns for themselves; supporting the reading community by providing high quality, reasonably priced books; and supporting the environment as far as possible by making the book selection process, and the editing process fully electronic.  Additionally, in our product development process we use non toxic products in the design of the artwork, and our Print on Demand partner has received Chain of Custody certification from The Forest Stewardship Council and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative.
Do we promote our books through traditional bookstores? Yes! Our books are registered on the Nielsen Book Data list, and are marketed to all major retailers through our association with Ingram Books. In line with our commitment to the environment, printing is based only on sales and therefore on popular demand for the individual author.
In South Africa, we continue to develop associations with local retailers like Pulp Books and, more recently, Exclusive Books.
