About

The San Mateo Sister City Association (SMSCA) baseball program promotes good relations, educates and builds bonds between San Mateo, CA and Toyonaka, Japan through competitive baseball for 11-12 year olds.  This need-blind program ensures that all San Mateo players have the opportunity to compete for a position on the team, study Japanese culture together, fundraise together, travel and compete together.  The young men and women will live with their Japanese hosts and develop a robust appreciation of Japanese culture and the similarities and distinctions between our communities.  This 35 year old program shaped the lives of 320 California players, their families and the community. These experiences create relationships create lifelong understanding and generate unique opportunities for lifelong collaboration.
