About

The Oahu-based Chapter of United Nations Association, founded in 1968, is a grassroots membership organization dedicated to support the ideals and vital work of the United Nations. The national UNA-USA organization is working to accomplish its mission through its national network of Chapters, youth engagement, advocacy efforts, education programs, and public events.

Our Chapter is composed of inter-generational individuals who think globally and take action locally.  “Youth empowerment, human rights, sustainable development, inter-generational activities, indigenous peoples rights, gender equality, and peace, are examples of areas where UNA Hawai‘i members engage in related local activities. Each UNA Hawai‘i member brings a unique talent and passion to the Chapter, which is supported, to assist in activities that align with the mission statement.”

Examples of youth empowerment activities UNA Hawai‘i are involved with include the annual State Children and Youth Month, Model United Nations League of Hawai‘i, World Youth Congress, Education Energy, the World Wide Voyage, and Peace Child International.

Examples of initiatives that align with our mission, that members have launched, are the Hawai’i Institute of Human Rights example-delegation and Education Energy, a student empowering approach to education. Bring your passion to our Chapter and magnify your efforts as a “change agent”.
