About

Van Andel Institute (VAI) is committed to improving the health and enhancing the lives of current and future generations through basic and translational biomedical research and science education. The Institute primarily conducts cancer research, but studies branch out into other diseases such as Parkinson disease, osteoporosis, heart disease, and diabetes. Researchers at VAI find the tiny molecules in cells that trigger and strengthen disease – they find disease’s weak spots and how to target them. The Institute also has several education programs for students from the elementary to the graduate level, elementary and middle school teachers, and even has its own graduate school.

Van Andel Institute works to bring hope to life for patients and families.
