About

One in three Carolinians is impacted by one or more of the over 100 types of arthritis.  The Arthritis Foundation improves thousands of lives through program, services, information and referral, as well as professional and patient education.

Staff and volunteers conduct patient service programs including public forums, seminars, health fairs, self-help groups, speaking engagements, land and water exercises, Juvenile Arthritis summer camps and newly-diagnosed JA backpack program.  The Mid Atlantic Region conducts public education forums about arthritis and the programs and services of the Arthritis Foundation.  Professional education and training are provided to healthcare professionals to increase knowledge of the disease for better treatment and care of arthritis patients.

The Carolinas Office receives no government funding and relies solely upon voluntary contributions from the public to underwrite significant research and provide vital community services.

The Carolinas Office raises revenue through planned giving and major gifts, bequests and memorial donations and special events including Arthritis Walks, Jingle Bell Run/Walks, Golf Tournaments, Dinners & Galas and various other events conducted throughout North and South Carolina.

The Arthritis Foundation has funded and sponsored research for over 50 years resulting in major treatment advances for many forms of arthritis.  The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is three-fold:  Research, Public Health and Public Policy.
