About

Arts Unbound is dedicated to the artistic achievement of people living with disabilities and seniors. We provide visual arts education and professional development to help emerging artists compete on the retail market. By promoting the work of artists with disabilities and seniors, we center their
art-making rather than any impairments and by doing so challenge the
stigma associated with disability and aging.

The organization currently serves youth (age five and up), adults with mental illness, developmental, and physical disabilities, and seniors. Arts Unbound programs reach up to 200 individuals monthly in our studios or at various off-site locations in Essex, Union and Morris counties, including public and special schools, senior centers and agencies serving people with disabilities. We have a robust senior program to provide recreational art activities, art instruction and retail opportunities through classes at senior centers. Our ultimate goal is to provide opportunities for interested people with disabilities statewide.

The Arts Unbound Gallery provides retail opportunities for emerging and established artists with disabilities and seniors. Located in the Valley Arts District in Orange, NJ, an area undergoing revitalization, the gallery exhibits fine art and craft made by senior artists and artists living with mental, physical and developmental disabilities. Additional Arts Unbound exhibitions are hosted at venues throughout the state including corporations, museums, galleries, universities, schools and businesses. Proceeds from art sales are split between the artist and the agency. For more information contact, please call Arts Unbound.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10am to 4pm, and Saturdays from noon to 5pm. Gallery hours during holidays may vary, so please call to confirm we are opn. Visits may also be arranged by appointment. If you are bringing a school or organization group, please call 973-675-2787 to let us know.
