About

The Chicago Philharmonic was founded in 1988 by principals from the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra, and has consistently won accolades from music critics and audiences alike.  Today the orchestra is a collaboration of over 200 of the highest-level classical musicians working in the metropolitan Chicago area.  We have maintained our ties to the Lyric Opera’s orchestra, but our musicians also play for top-level classical groups like Rembrandt Chamber Players and Music of the Baroque.  In 2012, the Chicago Philharmonic became the official orchestra of the Joffrey Ballet, and has also provided musical support to high profile artistic enterprises such Salute to Vienna and the Houston Ballet.  The orchestra also has a 20-year relationship with the Ravinia Festival where, in 2013, it was featured alongside artists as diverse as Josh Groban and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
