About

Comedy Day, the Original, Longest-Running, Outdoor Comedy Festival in the World. One • Five Hours • 40+ Comedians • A Million Laughs • Absolutely FREE!
Comedy Day is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all- volunteer organization. Founder Jose Simon’s dream of a free, open-air comedy celebration became a reality in 1981, and since that time, more than 750 of the world’s funniest comedians have performed gratis for more than a half-million happy people.

Our funding is secured from private donations, sponsorship sales, vendor proceeds, and grants. There is no paid administrative staff and all of the funds received are allocated to support

1 ) Production of each year’s annual event;

2) Providing for our outreach program presenting workshops teaching conflict resolution through the use of humor to Bay Area public schools;

3) Producing comedic entertainment for nonprofit benefits, as well as to patients in hospitals, nursing homes and hospices, residents of homeless shelters, and wherever people can use a good laugh.
