“SALUTE THE RIBBON INC.” TO HOST FIRST COMMUNITY MEET & GREET CHARITY EVENT IN SUPPORT OF FINANCIAL RELIEF FOR CANCER TREATMENTS & OBESITY THAT COULD LEAD TO HIGHER RISK FOR CANCER

According to National Institutes of Health more than 15 million people in the US have been diagnosed with cancer in recent years, it is unknown how many have the financial means to pay for treatment.

Bringing hope to untold numbers of cancer-sufferers across the country, Salute the Ribbon, Inc., (STR) an all-volunteer-run 501(c) (3) organization, offers rare financial relief for those who, due to their economic circumstances, simply cannot pay insurance co-pays and co-insurance for chemotherapy, cancer-treating medications and related treatments.

Salute the Ribbon, Inc., wants to defeat the war on cancer with public awareness and fundraising. The organization’s first benefit event will take place on Saturday, April 25 at Avalon Park in McDonough, Georgia. It will be a day of education, passion, bonding and family fun with food, games and giveaways. This event will educate the community on early detection of cancer; provide information on current resources for relief for chemotherapy treatments, and education on obesity, which often lead to higher risk for cancer. The organization started in Henry County, GA, but plans public awareness and events in communities across the U.S.

Says founder Rena Day “Throughout my 10 years as an Office Manager and presently 2 years as a Financial Counselor-Trainer working in Hematology and Oncology. I have seen many cancer patients who simply could not afford to pay for their treatments. I have seen many tears and fears from families trying to figure out how to help their love ones. The biggest issue that I have encountered over the years with other cancer co-pay foundations is that they were either out of funds, patient cancer did not meet their criteria or they do not cover the prescribing chemo-drug. This is why I created an innovative program that is not cancer or drug specific to help newly diagnosed patients relief towards their chemotherapy treatments and offer supportive care to improve quality of life. The way the world is evolving nowadays cancer forms in some of the strangest places. We are a community-focused organization, and we strive to link arms with other compassionate souls in the community to help those in need, right here, in our own backyard. We ask you to help us in this war against cancer and stand with us to salute cancer survivors and help them get the relief they so desperately seek.”

Salute the Ribbon aims to help those in need of supportive care and financial assistance. The organization has made a commitment to assist physicians in providing excellent patient care by implementing innovative efficiency programs and providing the best standards in non-partisan research and supportive care. STR committed is to serve as an advocate and leader to all those who are in need of their help.

Seeking donations
The organization is currently seeking donations from individuals and organizations to fund its much-needed programs. STR’s goal for 2015 is to raise $350,000 to offer 500 people, social services, nutritional education, non- partisan research, supportive care and financial assistance towards chemotherapy treatments in our community to improve the quality of life. Eighty-five percent of donated funds go directly to Cancer Relief Fund Program and Fifth-teen percent of donated funds go directly to education, fundraising, treatment, and research.

Salute the Ribbon's sponsorship are available for the event on April 25, as well as for its half page color advertisement in the Resource Guide. The Guide will advertise businesses in an upcoming issue in May-June-July that reaches residents and businesses (Deadline for submission is no later than May 1, 2015). It also offers marketing & promotional items in promotion gift bags and an exclusive logo website link on Salute the Ribbon's Website (deadline to receive marketing & promotional materials April 3, 2015).
