Being born in a military background, DMB Charles was born in a Military hospital of Qadaffi barracks in Jinja district of Uganda during civil war when power struggle had emerged within the ruling party, and both of his parents were in the military service of Idi Amin – Museveni,

He was given surname Omony meaning war situation and He then grew up with his military mother Dorren Abwot who then died in 1997 and was later raised by his military Father and stepmother who treated him like her own, He is of an Acholi tribe from Gulu the largest city in northern Uganda.

DMB Charles grew up listening to Ugandan Music known as Afro-pop, Reggae and Hip hop. And at the age of 15 he was inspired by emcees like LL Cool J, Kool G Rap, Masta Ace, Rakim, KRS-One, Nas and many more, It was majorly Masta Ace and KRS-One that inspired him to begin rapping
During high school, he was then recognized by a friend who introduced him to a small studio were he recorded his very first song
