Vacation and fishing resort in a deep wilderness setting located about five miles south of the Canadian border in northeastern Minnesota.  We cater to fishermen seeking good sized small mouth and large mouth bass, northern pike and bluegills perch and walleye.  Excellent trout fishing right next door.  We feature clean housekeeping cabins for extended stays in a relaxed environment.  We have customer return rate of about 90% year after year with many of our customers staying here for 30 to 50 years.  It is not unusual to see kids, grand kids, and great-grand kids from the same families.  

Northwind Lodge has been owned an operated by the Baltich family for over 70 continuous years.  We are experts in region for fishing and canoe trips into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.  We also offer canoe rentals for day trips into the wilderness waters that surround the resort.  

Cabin guests are provided free access and use of kayaks, paddle boats, beach canoes.  Excellent hiking trail is nearby.  Shopping for tackle camping gear, paddling gear and canoes is also available on the premises in an unusual setting.  Our store Red Rock, stocks more tackle than any store in the region.  If you can't find it here, you don't need it.

Northwind Lodge is located 15 miles northeast of Ely, MN on the newly re-paved Fernberg Road.  We also have a creek and waterfall that serves as a natural white noise sound barrier on the property making our resort unlike any other resort in the area or state of Minnesota.
