FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Healthy Hands, Inc. Accepting Donations
Non-profit aims to fight health care-associated infections with education
Chicago, Sept. 8, 2014 —Healthy Hands Inc. has started accepting donations for its series of non-profit hand-hygiene campaigns in India set to begin in April 2015. Healthy Hands’ goal is to raise $10,000 by April in order to fund educational workshop, fund original research and stock supplies for Calcutta Mercy Hospital.

Healthy Hands, Inc. is the brainchild of Drs. John Budi and Nisha Haque. "We presented research at Mercy Hospital as medical students and were shocked at the response,” said Budi. “One individual asked why hand-hygiene was necessary given India's hot climate. This is an incorrect line-of-thought and shows how much work needs to be done."

“Most health care-associated infections are preventable through good hand hygiene – cleaning hands at the right times and in the right way,” World Health Organization (WHO) states in its Clean Care Programme.

According to WHO, “hundreds of millions of patients around the world are affected by health care-associated infections.” The number is expansive and yet so disregarded by developing healthcare systems that WHO doesn’t even have reliable data.

Donations to Healthy Hands, Inc. will fund campaigns, purchase sorely needed supplies, provide translation needed and consultant research.
