About

Kelly Smythe is one of the most influential forces in Australian fashion today. Increasingly called on to style and dress international celebrities who visit Australia, Kelly has maintained her reputation as Sydney’s A-list celebrity stylist while catering to her ever-increasing following of fashion conscious private clients.

Kelly moved to Sydney 15 years ago from New Zealand to take on the fashion capital of the southern hemisphere. She was quickly snapped up as Head Stylist for the entire Channel Seven Network where she styled local TV personalities and visiting International stars Melissa George, Chris Hemsworth and Eva Longoria while maintaining creative control of the entire on-air image of the station nationally.

One of Kelly's many achievements at Seven included her on air talent winning 'Best Dressed Celebrity' at the Logies three years running, and herself being voted in the Best Dressed List in 2007 in fashion bible Harpers Bazaar.

After five successful years, Kelly left Channel Seven to focus her passion on a more personalised approach and in 2008 her freelance styling company Kelly Smythe Pty Ltd was launched.

At this time, she styled former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins and travelled to Paris Fashion Week, gaining international recognition for her styling prowess, including her work at the Dior couture show. Kelly’s talents were also noticed internationally via her involvement as a celebrity guest stylist on America’s Style Network show, “How Do I Look?” with Jeannie Mai.

Locally, Kelly continues to work with Jennifer on her professional commitments, including Australia’s Top Model broadcast on Foxtel. Kelly’s sophisticated talents now see her dress Natalie Bassingthwaighte for the current X-Factor season on Channel Seven, and also as personal stylist to Jodi Gordon.

Internationally, Kelly has recently styled Rihanna, Kim Cattrall and Kelly Rowland.

Determined to make her style accessible to all, Kelly also lends her fashion-forward creativity to leading designers across the country as a fashion forecast consultant, and is soon to launch ‘Kelly Smythe’s Gentleman’, together with Louise Edmonds, famed founder of male fashion site, MenStylePower.

A large part of Kelly’s success is attributed to the 15 years she has spent working with Australia’s leading designers, many of whom create one-off bespoke designs for her clients that are not accessible via any other means. Further a-field, Kelly has built intimate relationships with a large number of international fashion houses including Prada, Chanel and Louis Vuitton and domestic retailers and events such as Myer, David Jones, BMW Sydney Racing Carnival and the Ambassador to online international shopping network, Shopbop.

Proving her talent is not just restricted to dressing red carpet events, Kelly has gained a large following of private clients who recognise the positive influence she has been able to bring to their lives with her sharp industry trained eye. These clients include highly skilled male and female professionals from CEOs to stay-at-home mothers looking to reconnect and develop their fashion confidence. Kelly has a strong passion for this side of her business, a rapidly growing company she devotes her time too as a one on one personalised service.

Services available are; private event styling, race attire styling, red carpet or gala styling, seasonal wardrobe revamping, personal shopping, style guide generation.
