Drive Kids to Be Fit

Drive Kids to Be FitDrive Kids to be Fit, a non-profit organization based in Sherman Oaks, California, was created to address the needs of overweight and obese children throughout Los Angeles.

Drive Kids to be Fit programs are taught at local elementary schools and at Max Fitness Academy in Sherman Oaks. The program is provided at no cost to the participating elementary schools and to kids who qualify as low-income (household income of $35,000). Each week for 15 weeks, trainers and nutritionists from Max Fitness Academy teach 1 ½ hour classes giving kids step-by-step lessons on fitness (cardiovascular exercises, weight training, strength-building, etc.) and good eating habits (food groups, how different foods affects the body, etc.). These classes are designed to act as building blocks to educate kids on how to develop good habits that will keep them healthy for a lifetime.
