About

The saying that a prophet has no honour in his homeland is true for young Zimbabwean musician, Liberty Bwanali who has positioned himself as a formidable artist to reckon with internationally, yet is virtually unknown locally.

Liberty Bwanali, whose stage name is Liberty Music is one of Zimbabwe’s young artists to make a break through into the international music industry which he has captivated with his skills and energy.

The versatile artist has made waves in the USA, Europe and across Africa both on radio and on the internet.

Liberty Music has held sold out shows across Europe, especially in Germany where he held two such tours and has performed and collaborated with renowned musicians such as Germany’s Ani and Canada’s recently crowned best Dj, Spinalong on the album “Gifted”.

The South Africa based Hip Hop/Reggae Dancehall artist who has just released his third album “Transition”, produced four of his tracks on his chart toping album “You’ve Been Liberated” with United Kingdom-based Jusa Dementor.

Liberty says he owes his success to focus determination and perseverance.

Liberty whose music is a reflection of pain, confusion and the fight for survival, urged aspiring and established artists to be sincere in their endeavours and to write life oriented music if they are to survive in the industry.

Born in Kadoma 25 years ago, Liberty Bwanali did not have it easy going as he dropped out of school at 14 becoming a gardener, before illegally crossing into South Africa at the age of 17 where he begged for alms whilst living in the street before discovering himself.

Apart from music, Liberty is also involved with NGO’s such as Kuyasa Empowerment (SA), Global Unity and Harmony (UK), Care for African Kids (Uganda) and AminaCare which he will be launching in Zimbabwe in 2012.

Liberty has also been invited to the University of Stellenbosch through the Babson Business Graduate College where he spoke to various kids from all over Western Cape about his struggle and business.

Last month, he was guest artist at the T20 cricket tournament held in Harare and is scheduled to hold a third European and American tour in February next year.
