MixedBlessing®, an Interfaith and Multicultural Greeting Card Company, Donates Cards to the Troops in Iraq, with a Message That We Care

Raleigh, NC 2007 – In keeping with the holiday spirit, hundreds of soldiers at Camp Speicher, in Tikrit, Iraq will receive a heart warming holiday greeting card donated by MixedBlessing, Inc. Through the card sending program, each card will be handed signed with a personal message of thanks for each soldier.

“We are trying to show our support and hope to help boost the troops morale by sending them our holiday cards,” said Elise Okrend, owner of MixedBlessing. Last year, the cards sending program was received as “awesome” by the soldiers, according to Lydia Carloni, coordinator of the program, “We still receive thanks from the soldiers, 7 months later,” said Carloni. This year, MixedBlessing chose to send an all inclusive holiday greeting card, depicting three holiday stamps wishing a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy Kwanzaa. This is in keeping with the company’s spirit of producing cards that celebrate our diversity.

MixedBlessing began over fifteen years ago as a solution to the problem of, what kind of holiday card do you send to an interfaith family, a Christmas card or Hanukkah card? The answer, a card that respectfully combines both holidays. The original design, created by Elise Okrend combined a Star of David on one side with a Christmas tree on the other. The company continues to grow with the national trend towards intermarriage, spirituality and global diversity. MixedBlessing offers a line of over 50 interfaith holiday cards as well as multicultural, peace and diversity cards.

Mixed Blessing greeting cards and other items such as mugs, multicultural cards, music, interfaith stockings and books are available online at www.mixedblessing.com. Greeting cards are available at Borders Books & Music, Bed Bath and Beyond, Bloomingdales and Barnes & Noble. Elise and Philip Okrend are available for interviews.
