About

MORIAH™ Cooperative is a nonprofit 501c3 organization which provides free inclusive social events for children with special needs (Autism, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, etc.). Youth with these types of diagnoses are often called "neurodiverse" and experience challenges relating to vital social and communication skills. These deficits often lead to exclusion among their peers. Using a unique peer mentorship model, MORIAH pairs neurodiverse youth with neurotypical (mainstream) peers. This is so neurodiverse participants have an opportunity to practice social and communication skills that are modeled by neurotypical peers. In return, neurotypical youth learn about neurodiversity and the importance of empathy, acceptance and inclusion.

All of MORIAH's events are free due to the generous donations of kind individuals who believe in their mission. Families of all backgrounds, who live in the general Phoenix area, attend MORIAH’s events where they engage in fun inclusive social activities such as roller skating, bowling, attending plays, gardening, and much more. Through their events, MORIAH hopes to plant seeds of kindness, friendship, and understanding in our community and help all youth who participate maximize their individual potential.
