About

The Muscle Help Foundation exists to inspire children and young people with Muscular Dystrophy to fulfil a dream or cherished ambition through amazing experiences in the UK called Muscle Dreams. Muscular Dystrophy (MD) is a muscle wasting disease and is the single biggest genetic killer of children in the world today. Many of our beneficiaries suffer from the most extreme form, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and for these sufferers the disease is life limiting.

The charity was co-founded in 2003 by its CEO Michael McGrath, who himself has Muscular Dystrophy, having been determined to achieve his own ambition of becoming the first and only disabled person to have successfully led expeditions to both the North and South Poles. Michael is an inspiring role model and personally hosts each Muscle Dream with a team of volunteer hosts.

Our aim is for the young person to have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fulfil their ‘Muscle Dream’ or realise their ambition and to believe they too can achieve great things and reach their potential.
