About

Peter DeHaan’s writing career spans three decades, having published hundreds of articles and authored four academic works, with five active blogs and a growing number of books. Peter is an active member of Jerry B. Jenkins Christian Writers Guild, and Word Weavers, and American Christian Writers. He cofounded the Kalamazoo Christian Writers critique group. His monthly newsletter, with a growing circulation, celebrates the writing of others, provides interesting entertainment, and shares snippets of his work.

A lifelong student of the Bible, Peter wrote the 450-page website ABibleADay.com. His main blog, “Spiritually Speaking,” addresses biblical spirituality, often from a postmodern perspective. He gives back to the writing community with his writer’s blog, “Byline” and his book publishing blog, “From the Publisher’s Desk.” He also provides critiques, guidance, and encouragement to other writers. An occasional public speaker, to both business and Christian audiences, he earns praise for his content, self-disclosure, and passion.

In 1983 Peter DeHaan published his first article, titled “All About Pagers,” in the now defunct tech magazine Radio Electronics. His second article “Computers Track Down Intermodulation Interference,” was published later that year in Mobile Radio Technology magazine, as he ironically labored through his college freshman writing class. This would be his only formal writing course; he persevered and earned an A. Over time a passionate writer emerged. He now focuses on writing non-fiction and memoir but for fun dabbles in fiction and an occasional poem.

In 2001, Peter DeHaan founded Peter DeHaan Publishing Inc, a periodical and website publisher. In this role Peter is president, publisher, and editor-in-chief of the print publications AnswerStat and Connections Magazine; the e-publication, TAS Trader; and the e-newsletter, Medical Call Center News. Additionally he has produced a dozen information websites, including ArticleWeekly.com, which contains thousands of business related articles.

Peter DeHaan’s prior work experience includes telecommunication consulting, multi-location call center management, mergers and acquisitions, software programming, high-tech help desk management, technical writing, and project management. Peter also had brief stints as a television audio engineer, electronic musical instrument technician, copy machine repairman, meat-processing plant lackey, and farm laborer. These experiences shaped Peter into who he is today and provide many fond – and some not so fond – memories, as well as ample writing material. He now focuses on writing and publishing.

Peter DeHaan has an MBA and PhD from Kennedy-Western University and a second PhD degree from Trinity College of the Bible and Trinity Theological Seminary, awarded “with high distinction” and endorsed by Canterbury Christ Church University, England. The honor was conferred June 15, 2012.

Peter lives near Kalamazoo, Michigan, with his bride of 33 years. They have two married children and two grand puppies, Max and Zane. Peter is an avid reader and podcast consumer, with his iPod and Kindle never far away. A movie buff who enjoys nature walks, Peter celebrates both as sensory experiences – albeit vastly different – that provide enjoyment and illumination, feeding his inner muse.
