About

The mission of SafeSpot of Fairfax is to protect and enhance the life of every child who has the courage to battle sexual and physical abuse. Our goal is to reduce the trauma of child victims and their non-offending caregivers by facilitating a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary team approach to intervention, investigation, prosecution and treatment of child sexual and severe physical abuse.  Our vision is to create SafeSpot of Fairfax, a Children’s Advocacy Center.  SafeSpot will be a non-profit center that will provide direct services to child victims of sexual and physical abuse in Fairfax County. The center is designed to reduce the trauma experienced by child abuse victims as they navigate the legal, investigative and social service systems following an allegation of abuse. SafeSpot will be a public-private partnership among The Safe Children Foundation, Fairfax County Law Enforcement, Child Protective Services, The Commonwealth Attorney’s office and other mental health and medical physical professionals who work collaboratively. SafeSpot will provide a safe, child-friendly location where Joint interviews and Team Case management can occur. Fairfax County government agencies can convene at SafeSpot to conduct and observe joint forensic interviews. This team approach reduces further victimization of the child because all the pertinent questions can be asked at one interview where trained professionals make sure to collect all necessary information and evidence. The agencies can also share information related to the case so that the child victim and their family can receive all the services, treatment and help available.
