Founded by Mel Bartholomew, SFGF is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, with goals to end world hunger and promote healthy lifestyles. SFG is an intensive gardening method pioneered by Bartholomew in his first book, Square Foot Gardening (1981, Rodale Press), then on his five-year running PBS TV show. He offered 10 major improvements to his system in his updated 2007 ALL New Square Foot Gardening book. The SFG method produces 100% of the harvest of a row garden, using no fertilizer, and far less water, space, seeds, labor, tools and expense. The best part of a SFG is there are NO WEEDS!
