About

Seven Women is an ethical enterprise providing literacy, skills training and employment to marginalised Nepalese women, which enables them to earn their own income and independence. Their handmade knitted, felted and silk products are sold in Australia with profits returned to further expand projects in Nepal.

Our fair trade products are designed by Seven Women specifically for the Australian market. Favourites include recycled silk sari dressing gowns and skirts, and our hand knitted beanie/scarf/glove sets. Felted mobiles in Australiana birds are a hit with homewares stores, as are our Smartie felt ball rugs in 100% NZ wool. Hand puppets and stuffed toys keep the kids happy. Don’t forget our Christmas decorations to add some cheer to your home or office!

The organisation started when Stephanie Woollard met seven disabled women in Nepal, working in a tin shed to support themselves. In Nepal disability is considered a curse so they were isolated and neglected. We’ve trained 700+ women since opening our doors, and many have progressed to become team leaders, further enhancing their sense of empowerment. All Australian staff are unpaid volunteers, but all Nepalese staff receive fair wages and work under fair trade conditions.
