SHIFT is a Web site and a blog by 13 graduate students at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. It explores the coming of age of a new generation of adults whose individual choices will shape their lives and our culture.  it will tell the stories of young Americans as they control their future + alter their world + enter their adult lives.

SHIFT highlights issues faced by recent college graduates living in urban areas while focusing on their cultural diversity as they tread the careful line between embracing the future and holding on to their roots. It reflects their shift to adulthood as well as the shifting demographics of America’s culture as Americans of every ethnicity leave their marks on society.

SHIFT is a project by News21, an initiative of the Carnegie and Knight foundations to advance the U.S. news business by helping revitalize schools of journalism.
