About Sibley Memorial Hospital
Sibley Memorial Hospital is a non-profit, full service 328 bed acute care community hospital serving the Washington, DC area. Our campus is also home to our assisted living residence, Grand Oaks and The Sibley Renaissance which houses our Center for Rehabilitation Medicine, Sibley Senior Services, skilled nursing care and a residential Alzheimer's unit.

The mission of Sibley Memorial Hospital is to provide quality health services and facilities for the community, to promote wellness, to relieve suffering, and to restore health as swiftly, safely, and humanely as it can be done, consistent with the best service we can give at the highest value for all concerned.


Accreditation

Sibley Memorial Hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and is licensed by the District of Columbia Department of Health and Human Services.

Mammography Units
Sibley Hospital's mammography services are certified by the American College of Radiology Mammography Accreditation Program and the Food & Drug Administration. Mammograms are administered by women who are registered radiological technologists with advanced certification in mammography. Mammography films are studied and interpreted by Sibley radiologists who are board certified by the American College of Radiology.

Oncology Program
Sibley Hospital's Oncology Program is accredited as a Community Hospital Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

Pathology Department
Sibley Hospital's Pathology Department is accredited by the College of American Pathologists. In addition our Blood Bank is accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks and registered with the Food and Drug Administration.

Sleep Center
Sibley Hospital's Sleep Center is accredited by the American Sleep Disorders Association.


Areas of Expertise

Surgery
Sibley Hospital is a major provider of surgical services, most notably in the areas of obstetrics, gynecology, orthopedics, neurology, otolaryngology, cosmetic, thoracic, urology, and general surgery. Surgical facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including lasers, operating microscopes, and support for minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Orthopedics
Sibley has one of the most active orthopedic surgery programs of any hospital in the District of Columbia, with special expertise in joint replacement surgeries. A special nursing unit is dedicated to the care of orthopedic surgery patients.

Oncology Services
Sibley Hospital's Cancer Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. In addition to surgical capabilities, the hospital offers radiation oncology, chemotherapy, pain management, rehabilitative services, support groups, screening programs, and community education lectures. An oncology nursing unit is staffed by nurses with special training in oncology patient care.
