Once again, it's time for the Softonic Awards, the worldwide awards for software

Softonic users will have a month and a half to vote for what they think have been the best programs of the year

By adding Softonic's Chinese and Japanese speaking user communities, this is the first time that the event will be conducted through all the company's sites

London, February 16, 2012 - For the eighth consecutive year, Softonic, Europe and Latin America's top website for secure software purchase and download and a world leader in the sector, presents a new edition of the Softonic Awards. These awards, which continue to gain recognition in the sector, are designed to highlight those programs that the users themselves consider to be the best. This year, the Softonic Awards will go global: they will be featured on all the company's portals so that users around the world can participate through the Spanish, English, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Dutch, Chinese, and Japanese language websites.

This year, like every year, a team of local Softonic editors has been in charge of nominating the programs to be presented as finalists in each award category. The site invites users to vote for the winning programs from this list of finalists, and their votes help Softonic identify the most popular software in each language market.

Users of the English language website can vote for the best software in five different platforms: Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android and Webapps. As in every edition of the award, the types of software nominated as finalists are divided into separate categories such as chats, multimedia players, anti-virus, games, photo editors or Internet browsers, among others.

Voting is open through March 31, and participants have a chance to win one of 20 Kindles to be given away through a random prize draw at the end of the promotion. To see what programs have been nominated and cast your vote, visit: http://en.softonic.com/awards
