About

Jason Engelund reframes photography through abstraction to explore the world with an intuitive and poetic tone. Arising from questions around visual perception and its role in how we make meaning of memory and experience, his photography explores the power of landscapes to evoke visceral, contemplative and vitalizing feelings.

Jason is a founding member of the California College of the Arts Center for Art and Public Life where he worked for eleven years developing programs for artists to collaborate with communities locally, providing 9100 hours of service through the arts annually to community organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area and providing a grants program for artists, architects and designers to collaborate with community partners to address real world needs across the globe.

In 2012 Jason was awarded a Sustainable Arts Foundation Individual Artist grant for his work in abstract photography. His artwork is represented by Hinge Parallel Gallery in Culver City and Modern Book Gallery in San Francisco.
