About

Introducing: The Oven Spit Guard the all in one solution to oven cleaning, no more smells, smoke and most of all no more cleaning your oven.

No one likes cleaning their oven, it’s the dirtiest and most time consuming job in the kitchen. That’s why we invented The Oven Spit Guard, the world’s 1st complete oven protector. The only product that protects all internal surfaces of your oven. Manufactured in the UK from 1 mm thick high quality steel, with a hard wearing enamel coating which complies with all relevant food contact regulations.

With its specially designed lid, the Oven Spit Guard allows moisture to escape through specially formed vents whilst retaining the fat within the tray. The lid prevents food particles from contaminating the internal surfaces of the oven. The meat surface browns and the cooking time is not affected, as the oven spit guard reaches the same temperature as the oven within a few seconds, receiving the same results as without using the lid.

The next step for The Oven Spit Guard is to order tooling and purchase a production run, each of those costs thousands of pounds which is too much for a small family to do alone. In order for us to make this happen we need the support of fellow kick starters.

Support the Oven Spit Guard and make oven cleaning a thing of the past!

Have you ever experienced any of the following?

Why does my oven get dirty?

When cooking meat, juices seep out and come in contact with the hot fat causing steam explosion. The water instantly vaporizes, this violent action causes the fat to be sprayed in all directions, covering the internal components of your oven with fat and food residue.

Design

After testing numerous prototypes we came to the following conclusions:

We decided to manufacture the base and lid out of 1 mm thick steel, for strength and durability with a high quality vitreous enamel coating for ease of cleaning.

We also designed a 45 degree angle on the upper portion of the lid, and found that this angle prevented 99% of fat and food particles from contaminating the inside of the oven.

The oven spit guard features two tabs on opposite corners enabling safe and easy removal of the lid. When picking up the lid you can easily turn it over so it can rest upside down as not to contaminate the work surface.

The reasons for not having handles or a knob on the lid is to avoid getting burnt from the steam that exists through the vents. Also the top of the lid has a flat surface for easy storage.

Once we had decided which prototype worked best, we appointed a design team to build a CAD model that includes all of these design features.

Working Prototype

Tried and tested by Michelin Star Chef Rob Rees "The Cotsworld Chef" - "Worked very well with good result of tenderness and moisture, without affecting colour on both the beef and chicken products" Also tested by friends and family with positive results.

The first prototype was made from stainless steel, which was very expensive to make. I then decided to use thick aluminum foil as it was a lot cheaper, quicker and easier to experiment with different vents and designs.

"I have used numerous prototypes over the past year now, and my oven is as good as new, they worked better than all expectations."

Research

On average the general public spend £30 - £40 per year on oven cleaning products and other products such has tin foil and roasting bags. That's £91 million in the UK alone.

Existing Products

There are currently no other products on the market that fully protect all the internal parts of the oven.
