About

The Poetry Hut entered the online poetry magazine market in January 2010.  It is a quarterly publication featuring the poetry of our contributors, as well as the work of our Managing Editor, Susan Schoeffield.

This magazine is a way to spread the appreciation of poetry by sharing the words of others within the poetic community.  In future issues, The Poetry Hut looks forward to featuring more of the poems submitted by the great poets it has yet to meet.

Our Managing Editor, Susan Schoeffield, has been writing poetry, in one form or another, since the 1960s.  Growing up during the British Invasion, the catchy lyrics of her favorite groups spawned an interest in the written word which continues to this day.

Susan has written to the prompts at Poetic Asides, a poetry prompt blog through Writers Digest Online.  Her work has also appeared on micro poetry, another weekly prompt blog found at Facebook.  Her haiku poetry has been seen on The Japanese Connection at The Haiku Inn.

She has completed her first book of poetry, A Walk and Imagine, and is currently compiling her second collection, And Autumn Remembers.  You can learn more about these and other projects in which she is currently engaged on her personal website, www.susanschoeffield.com.

The Poetry Hut's primary mission is to support and encourage new poets and, hopefully, inspire seasoned poets, as well.  It sponsors poetry prompt blogs to help poets write toward specific themes.  It directs poets to sites not connected with The Poetry Hut where they can also write to prompts and enjoy the encouragement of others.

The Poetry Hut is a labor of love -- a love of reading poems, writing poems, and sharing the poems of others. We are proud of the work we present in these pages.  It is an honor to be associated with others in the poetic community and to share the stage with the magnitude of talent yet to be discovered.  As The Poetry Hut continues its journey, we welcome all who come along for the ride.
