At TLC, we believe that transportation is more than a ride. It is the freedom to go when you want and when you need it. It is the freedom to go to social functions and business activities. It is getting some normality back. It is the ability to have equal access and to have full participation to live like people without special needs. It is the ability to share special times with family and friends together. These are just a few of the things we hear by people with special needs, their loved ones, and caregivers.
The request by a client to provide a ride in-style accommodations for special needs children, caregivers, parents and luggage to Disney became a challenge. The gaps in transportation services such as this gave birth to the start of the TLC Mobility Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity.
We look to promote inclusion through transportation for children and adults with special needs and those without disabilities into family, work, and play — creating richer experiences for everyone.
Our current capital campaign is to raise $150,000 to purchase and operate our own transportation vehicles that will provide a revenue source and help the foundation to become self-sufficient. Most importantly, this will enable us to serve as a “make-a-wish” of transportation to serve children and adults with and without disabilities. As the foundation continues to mature, it is our vision to remain steadfast on the importance that transportation is more than a ride.
