About

She's been quoted in TIME Magazine, featured in numerous publications and listed as one of Performance Magazine's (1987) Top 100 Women in Music in their Music Industry Issue. With over 30 years experience in the business, ANGELA RODRIGUEZ is owner and operator of AR ENTERTAINMENT.  Before forming AR ENTERTAINMENT in 1998, Angela worked for ten years as LATIN MARKETING MANAGER for BILLBOARD MAGAZINE .

Having lived in Brazil, Cuban-American Angela speaks three languages fluently, and specializes in Anglo and Latin Press in the United States, and Latin American media including Puerto Rico.  She toured Latin America extensively with several major Anglo and Latin Rock and Pop acts, and helped pioneer the "Latin Explosion" through her efforts at placing Latin acts at the forefront of American and Hispanic press.

Angela got her start working as assistant producer for TV Globo of Brazil (1981) and their location filming in Miami, Florida by coordinating location scouting, permits, among others.  Two of her most important projects with Globo was the highly acclaimed Brazilian soap opera “Agua Viva” and interview with JULIO IGLESIAS for the top variety show during the 80’s “Show Fantastico”.  The job with Globo and Julio Iglesias would become serendipity as Julio came calling and hired her as his personal assistant, in 1982, which took her to exotic locations all over the world.

Angela was one of the co-founders of the original BILLBOARD LATIN MUSIC CONFERENCE and co-producer of the BILLBOARD LATIN MUSIC AWARDS , (1994-1997) organizing the conference, awards and festivities for ten years. Through personal and professional contacts, Angela and the other co-founders were able to encourage Latin Music pioneers like GLORIA and EMILIO ESTEFAN, SELENA and JON SECADA to participate, raising the Latin Music presence by providing a before-unknown platform for showcasing new talent and trends and recognizing established acts. Through the conference and awards, Angela and the conference co-founders created an effective and colorful central meeting ground for press, record label producers, artists, and industry professionals to share ideas and bring about change.

Angela also helped pioneer the Latin Rock scene, having organized Billboard showcases in the early stages of the careers of CAFÉ TACUBA, CAIFANES , SORAYA and SHAKIRA , among others. She coordinated and created panel discussions on Latin Rock throughout the annual conference, creating a greater level of awareness. Participants in these panels included luminaries such as JORGE SANTANA, PHIL MANZANERA (Roxy Music), LA LEY, and DESMOND CHILD.

In 1992 she was assistant press coordinator to the first Latin American tour of Guns N Roses when the band was at their peak.

She also worked and toured with Rock Promoter Phil Rodriguez of WATER BROTHER PRODUCTIONS, touring internationally and working with mega bands such as BON JOVI, STING, UB40, THE FIXX, FLOCK OF SEAGULLS, THE SCORPIONS, IAN GILLAN, JON ANDERSON (from the fame rock group YES), OZZY OSBOURNE,  and many more .
