The Junior Round Square Conference at the ScindiaKanyaVidyalya, Gwalior from 5 – 9 November 2012, was an enriching experience for the Year 9 students of The British School, New Delhi. The theme ‘Look beyond the visible’ was attended by 88 students and their teacher escorts from South Asia and the Gulf region. The highlights of the event were the enjoyable Baraza sessions conducted for the participants by the student’s representatives. The key note speaker Captain Sameer Singh, an entrepreneur,emphasised on the importance of choices that one would make in his or her lifetime that would affect their lives.

The other key note speaker, Ms Linda Bird shared her experiences of along teaching career. She shared leadership qualities with the students. Students participated in various workshops like Bonsai, flower making and Cooking. During the conference the students also took part in the Community Service project at the Vivekananda Needam. This houses an old age home and a hostel for the economically weaker sections of the society who are taught yoga and other life skills. The students then participated in various activities like cooking, cleaning, tree plantation and pot painting enthusiastically. The cultural evening saw students participate in skits and songs relevant to the theme 'Look beyond the visible' where our students presented a beautiful rendition of the song ‘Peace’ by John Lennon, expressing the hope  for a peaceful world .
